that while yes the FBI did indeed investigate Anita Hill's allegations against Clarence Thomas, their findings were inconclusive. And that was for an incident only 10 years in the past at the time of the charges. The Senate Judicial Committee then voted 7-7 on the nomination, split mostly along Party lines, but sent the nomination to the full Senate anyway for a final vote. The entire process resolved nothing and remains just as divisive today as it was in 1991, if not more so.

Do you really expect anything different today? I'm not arguing for or against the investigation, rather I'm stating that unless Kavanaugh withdraws or is disqualified, which is the only outcome the Democrats will accept, it will resolve nothing.

Yeah a "process" sometimes does not resolve things, but sometimes a process that is methodical does create more clarity, and even when it is just as unclear as before at least we know that we methodically did the process instead of merely let motivated reasoning and spectacle rule the day. When we do a methodical process it is a whole lot harder to do "grandstanding" for the methodical process at least establishes a baseline.

Yeah a "process" sometimes does not resolve things, that is the point! Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, we have multiple tools in are arsenal and part of a good faith system that is required for cooperation is we use multiple tools instead of just turning everything into a battle of wills and temporary numbers where one side is on ascent vs descent.
