I like it - especially the points Egwene delivered. As I said before, it took a long time in going but I think RJ really didn't have much for Egwene to do until the latter part of the books - unfortunate for his overall pacing, though it may be. She is the only character I think RJ developed as an adult with very little immaturity in between, so her POV sounded very crisp and fully realized.
It was funny that Katerine's face paled - considering she is Black Ajah. Perhaps she was paling thinking of a future victory?
"What's more important? The White Tower or (her) pride?" I believe out of the main cast, only Elayne has had a similar event, and I think it shows the relative difference in emotional range RJ invested the characters with. I think it is because she is one of the characters he cared about the most. Especially the description of her emotions when confronting Elaida. She shows legitimate growth here and I can't really say the same for all of the protagonists.
Elaida's descent really comes as a drop into hell, here. She really does personify the most direct threat against the White Tower ever personified. But it is very believable, and consistent with her latest experiences.
I think Egwene grows leaps and bounds; I'm not sure how RJ would have written the scene, though. It was really well written and it was almost a mirror image of what happened to Moiraine so many books ago.
I do wonder how long it is until the military of the various nations are unable to take part in Tarmon Gaidon due to the lack of edible food.
This chapter really illustrates that the Battle for the (3rd Age) Hall of Servants has gained in importance...the White Tower, even broken, is the most united of all of the various leaderships, and the stakes really have escalated to the point where her struggle is a mirror image to Rand's on a more concentrated scale.
She really learned to drink in the pain, because her pain at swallowing her bitterness made a mere strapping seem ridiculous. It's not about claiming privileges for Aes Sedai, but about respecting other people.
This also showed that she learned exactly what she needed to from the Aiel Wise Ones.
