I understand what you're saying (I think), but I would word it differently.
Ishamael's beliefs are, by our definition, evil.
Therefore, Ishamael is, by our definition, evil.
But, Ishamael doesn't believe he is evil, nor does he believe the DO is evil, nor does he believe in evil. He simply believes what he believes, and doesn't care about any arbitrary label of that belief as Good or Evil.

I'm not quite sure if I agree. I think Ishamael knows that murder is evil and a sense of corruption. He's been driven to anger and insanity by his musings on circular reincarnation, which he believes cannot be escaped by any means. Therefore he willingly does evil to try and break the cycle.
