The theory merely states that the wheel is infinite.
If it is infinite and will turn for infinity in the future, that means, the DO will break free.
But if it has already turned infinitely in the past, and the DO has never broken free, then there is no chance of him ever breaking free. So your line of thought never helps the theory, indeed I am sure its not what the writer meant by "1c. the wheel is infinite". He probably made a mistake in his logic when stating an infinite past.

Regardless, your point is still invalid as I mentioned above. An infinite past where the DO has had infinite tries to break free is still possible as an independent idea.
