A Bell Curve is a perfectly normal distribution. Perfectly symmetrical. Otherwises it's not a Bell Curve.
Yes, but as I said, no real data is ever a perfect bell curve. When people say "it's a bell curve", they actually mean "it's reasonably well described by a bell curve".
Well, that's the solution I'm putting forward.
Which is that RJ actually misspoke when he called it a Bell Curve. In fact, he may have not entirely KNOWN the implications of calling it a Bell Curve.
Because we know that most channelers are weak and only a minority are very strong - and the Guide tells us this was also the distribution during the Age of Legends - and yet a Bell Curve would imply that there are as many channelers of Graendal's strength as there are of Sorilea's strength.
And this is clearly not the case, given that there are so many weak channelers but so incredibly few strong channelers.
To repeat my point: A perfect Bell Curve does not reflect the data from the books.
