Strength in the power is essentially like a random number, handed out to potential channelers at birth. The value of that number, or even if you have one, isn't known until you get tested. So how is it different from my second example with the coins?

Because ow strong a person is isn't decided at the moment of testing. The number is set in stone since birth, and testing only reveals it. The face a coin will land on has no such predetermination.

Also, I didn't say I expected the same number of heads and tails, but roughly the same number, which is very reasonable. I can explain the maths, if you like.
