Instead of the updates on his blog of "I hope to be done in March and get it out in September" he should have just said from the beginning "I'm not sure when it's going to be done, I'm sorry that I was so far off on my estimation, and I will tell you when I've finished and submitted it to the publishers, in the meanwhile rest assure that I am working on it, but I will not say anything else about it until I've finished."

I think that right there would at least keep some of the rancor down. Not all of it, but if I was anxiously awaiting the next volume 3 years after he told me it was going to be out I'd be pretty pissed too. Especially with posts like this one from a couple days ago. "Only thirty-eight more POVs to wrap up..."

How could someone not read that and go "good god, 38 POV's left to finish on a book that was supposed to be published 3 years ago??"
