The body would do so just fine. The problem with Shadowspawn is that they don't have a Soul in the same sense as humans. My guess is that they have some warped "Shadow Soul" that isn't compatible with the Wheel.

With this in mind, I'm curious if we have any evidence of Padan Fain crossing through Gateways. We know while he was the Shadow's tracker, he was sent around by Ba'alzamon early on in the books. Did Ishamael send him off through Gateways? He made extensive use of The Ways. Since he is generally considered to be an outsider to the Wheel, I wonder if he has a soul that's Gateway-traversible.
