Your argument about few women ever wielding so much power actually makes the point of a small circle being so powerful even more random. But like I said, it's unimportant, just one of those things that in my mind doesn't really add up.


Well it depends on how you look at it. Rand says that a circle of a man and a woman can exceed his own gateway. So technically an average man and woman can match Rand if they are linked. If you choose to look at it like this. Myself, I think Rand could weave a gateway many times bigger than his largest gateway, but it seems like no single person can exceed 4x4 paces.

As for Flinn, one should also remember that mixed links are even more powerful than same-sex circles. It may be a huge amplifier. We have seen that when a man and woman link the fire they create to burn Trollocs is much brighter than normal.



Flinn linked with Corele and Sarene and Demandred claims they were no more powerful than he is. But from what we see in other circles they should have crushed him rather than simply matched him. Also, Verin's circle should have been easily able to Shield Graendal if the precision bonus is so dramatic. Thus I just don't think the text adds up on the linking advantage ... It's all over the place.
