Not at all. To ignore the book is to ignore that both males and females have concluded the same things about gateway size. And that Asmodean's philosophical answer doesn't explain anything. He definitely doesn't say it requires Talent or that it is NOT related to strength. besides, this is Asmodean who clearly lied about not being able to show Rand how to make a regular Gateway since Sorilea did exactly what he said he couldn't do. I'll concede that strength in Spirit is what affects Gateway size but as I pointed out in another post all the statements we've had so far is that strength in Spirit is directly proportional to One Power strength. Aviendha is clearly a case of learning a different weave first. Her gateway is the right size for her strength but she has to use more Power to make the weave work. Reanne is hardly more Significant because until she or someone else comments on the size of her Gateways we don't have any idea she is doing anything unusual at all.

Strength in Spirit is proportional to OP strength? Where, oh where, did you get that ridiculous notion from? And Aviendha's gateway is not the right size for her strength. She states right out that she could make one larger if she remembered how. Flinn implies the same.

As for Reanne, she's making larger Gateways than Aviendha could in tPoD, yet she's definitely weaker by a significant amount. Which only weakens the case for there being a direct correlation between strength and Gateway size.


as for the strength in spirit being proportional to strength in the power that is my interpretation of the statements that on average males were strong in Fire and Earth and females were strong in Water in Air. It seemed to me the nod to Spirit being equal across the sexes indicates that "strength" in Spirit does not vary. Personaly I'm still on the fence about whether channelers convert the OP power into the five but Spirit may BE the OP seeing as it is the only version of the power you can channel in your sleep. Those statements about it being equal across sexes seem to mean it is equal within a sex because no mention is made of it varying. There is no mention, in my memory, of any channeler being sites as strong in Spirit. Also as the only power you can channel in sleep it leads me to believe it is the "Truest" and most natural flow and that indicates it would be most representative of your "true" strength.
