Roberto Bolaño Larry Send a noteboard - 19/03/2010 11:09:57 PM
Hey man,
I'm new to the board, and I don't know the rules about asking questions about things outside of the subject of the current thread. But, oh well, I'm a noob or what-not. Anyway, I have a chance to read 2666, and as I've lurked here, I think I saw that you are a fan of the author (I can't remember his name), my question is: can I read this tome without reading his other work? Is this something that I should use my first Itunes gift card on to get it in the Audiobook format?

Thank for your thoughts,
GATE

Yes, you can read it without needing to read his other works. Each book of his stands alone, although in some (but not in 2666) there are a few recurring characters in the background. And while I haven't listened to the English translation (I've only read it in Spanish), I would have to say it is well worth the money spent.
Illusions fall like the husk of a fruit, one after another, and the fruit is experience. - Narrator, Sylvie
