I had forgotten just how tedious that extended scene with the circus was until I read that description of his. The bits about the sexual explosion was amusing, considering the typical complaints about the fetishes on display and the clothing descriptions. Not much else to the commentary, though. I suspect the pacing has become numbing to him.
Which I personally find pretty laughable concerning TFoH, and it's in my view easily refuted, if one actually reads the book.
Maybe this Adam Roberts is indeed just an arrogant idiot as others pointed out, but certainly not someone who seriously wants to review the WoT. *shrug*
If I recall, so many things begun to crawl toward some vague resolution several books later, but there really wasn't a sense of resolution/closure taking place in this novel. Things began, but were there many, or any, subplots that concluded here? Not really, minus the wiping out of one villain (and beginning yet another subplot that's still laboriously being worked out). I think it is fair, if one is reading this for the first time, to wonder "what is the damn point of all this?" Unless there's something great and artistic about the circus other than providing two separate hideaways for scenes set several books apart?
Illusions fall like the husk of a fruit, one after another, and the fruit is experience. - Narrator, Sylvie
