This is the book that, IMHO, separates the full-on fans from the general readers. It's a point of diminishing returns at this point, since we all know in our heart of hearts how this series will end, thus every additional volume makes it seem as if RJ was merely prolonging the inevitable.
I agree and that's why this review irritated me the least. This is where the story really starts to drag and nothing gets resolved over and over and over. He comments that it feels like Jordan painted himself into a corner, and I think that does describe things up until at least CoT. I've always felt that Jordan had a clear idea of where the plot was going in the early books, and of course he knew how it would end. It's somewhere between FoH and aCoS where it starts to feel like he's not entirely sure what happens as the plot moves from points A to B, and it gets to its worse in CoT. KoD was a bit better as he started wrapping up some loose ends.
Author Adam Roberts tackled the WoT.
