There are several points to the series, one of which was dealt with extensively in the last book, so perhaps there are other points out there to be discussed? 

He said he wanted to explore how myths and legends are created and passed on across generations. Given the cyclical nature of time in Randland, there are going to be things that stand out to us, things that we can relate with from our own current time... names, for example.
That is something Adam Roberts does not seem to comprehend. Instead, everything that seems to have any root in our current world is swiftly relegated to the purgatory of literary criticism: "derivative" (a euphemism for OMG plagerism!)
Not going to get into particulars now, as it's nearly 2:30 AM here and I'm up way past my bedtime, but again, the mythological elements are not exactly up front and center in the early books, if I recall. It's been 10 years since I last read those, but I don't recall much being different in tone or emphasis than most of the epic fantasies of that time. After the fourth volume, yes, it begins to shift, but not before then, I believe.
