I demand a paragraph by paragraph review, with footnotes!

How would you like a chapter by chapter review? I just finished chapter one, and after wading through a page of adjectives describing a storm that the main character and his/her farther are walking though, I can finally find the humor in Roberts complaints about RJs padding of his story. An entire chapter was used to say:
"My daddy is a bitter resentful man who wants to build a space elevator."
...
Additionally, it seems strange that a person with a PhD & teaches at Cambridge doesn't know that platinum is more expensive than gold, and that the pyramids at Gaza were larger than NASA's rockets. I know it is science FICTION, but can't we please get some basic historical facts right?
I particularly loved the cliched attempt at the end of the prologue "..it matters less than it once did that I killed her, that it was I who killed her..." Not sure why it is repeated, maybe we need the imphasis. The dialogue is right up there with Anikens speach about the sand people. personally I find it to just make it wordy and akward to read. Seems like a English professor/writing instructor could do better. Also, instead of ending it there for a truecliff hanger he goes on to say ".. I want to claim all the glory to myself . So-"
Wow what compelling writing, I mean that hyphen, wow it takes my breath away. It is so original and awe inspireing that I can't wait to turn the page...

You need much work on your sarcasm, padawan. But I do need to read that novel sometime, considering how acclaimed it is and all
