I have a very different take on that book Larry Send a noteboard - 10/04/2010 11:17:13 AM
Ellisons. Could not stand the book. It isn't the "plight of the black man" that I had issues with; which is the first assumption of many. It is the entire tone of the protagonist. The tag line of the book "I am an invisible man, noone can see me, they only see my surroundings" just makes me want to scream, and slap the author upside his head. It is one o fthe stupidist things ever written. You are only invisible, IF you allow yourself to be. Take control of your freaking life and quit whining...

Gawd!!!!! ARGH!!!!

*HUFF* *huff* *pant* *pant*

OK, I'm better now...

And although I'm mostly Caucasian, I would have to say that I've experienced situations similar (but in a much lesser degree) than what he describes and I certainly wouldn't call it "stupid."

But that's a topic for another time and perhaps another board.
Illusions fall like the husk of a fruit, one after another, and the fruit is experience. - Narrator, Sylvie
